JMAA architecture as part of the development of the City of Red Deer Parkade Project undertook a study to determine how well this structure would fit into the existing fabric of Red Deer's downtown.  To facilitate this study the firm created a 3D computer model of Red Deer's Downtown.

With the aide of the 3D computer JMAA architecture was able to illustrate clearly the urban fabric fit of this project prior to it ever being built.  The study aided in seeing the massing impact of this large structure on the fairly open existing downtown core.  It also allowed for the evaluation of walking distances, visual planning for a potential +15 downtown skywalk network and the increased massing impact of the City Hall Expansion Project.

With the parkade structure being built over the existing open air transit terminal it was very valuable to see "first hand" the impact that this structure would have prior to it ever being built.

As a result of the study and the illustrated impact of the structure an aggressive landscape plan was implemented along with significant architectural features that takes this structure from being merely a dominant mass to a piece of sculpture in the downtown.
