COLD LAKE NORTH ARENA - RENOVATION

JMAA architecture worked with the City of Cold Lake to renovate and update the interior of the North Arena.  The change rooms and common spaces for this facility were renovated to modernize the facility and prolong the lifespan of the building.  Barrier free washrooms were added off the main lobby and the viewing areas were expanded by removing an underutilized concession kitchen.  In addition to renovating the common areas a new stair was also added up to an existing mezzanine space which is open to the ice rink.  The mezzanine space will now be additional viewing space along with storage for the facility.

The existing arena is a long-standing facility in the community with a rich history. JMAA architecture wanted to embrace this, and the new design references this history.  The arena has a community nickname of "blue beauty".  As such, blue was used as an accent in the renovation spaces.  Angled paint accents which carry into the flooring bring vibrancy and movement to the design.  A custom trophy case was also designed for the viewing area to highlight the communities' achievements.  Washrooms throughout the renovation spaces were updated including the change rooms and referee change room.  The new design is bright and modern and helps bring new life to this Arena.
